If your vehicle is missing and you believe it may have been towed, contact the local Law Enforcement Agency for the area where your vehicle was located. The Law Enforcement Agency will tell you if your vehicle has been reported towed by a licensed relocation company. Relocation towing companies are required to report relocated vehicles to local Law Enforcement within 1 hour of being relocated.

The Illinois Commerce Commission governs relocation towing in the majority of areas we perform relocation services. The areas within the Illinois Commerce Commission governance have set rates, these rates are individual to each relocation company, and are structured by vehicle weight and type. (This rule only pertains to areas governed by the Illinois Commerce Commission.)

Contract Towing takes responsibility for our actions. If we damaged your vehicle we will repair the damages or pay to have the damages repaired. If you believe we damaged your vehicle, please immediately bring it to the attention of our vehicle release personnel. We will provide you an opportunity to view our available documentation of either photos and or video to quickly clarify the situation. If you are not satisfied after viewing our documentation, then you will be provided a Damage Claim form. You will be given the opportunity to provide your contact information and describe the alleged damage. You will then be asked to affirm under penalty of perjury that you believe that Contract Towing damaged your vehicle and that the alleged damage was not pre-existing. Your form will then be forwarded to a manager for review. We will then contact you and inform you of our findings and discuss the next steps to resolve the matter. If we did cause physical damage to your vehicle we will work quickly to remedy the situation.

The Illinois Commerce Commission governs relocation towing in the majority of areas we perform relocation services. Their rule for non-commercial vehicles that are in the loading process and or prior to rolling must be released at no charge if the person reclaiming has the vehicles keys with them at that moment or if they have proof of ownership at that moment. Once the vehicle is attached to the tow vehicle and movement has begun the relocation company is not required or obligated to release the vehicle, they are to continue to the specified impound facility. Commercial vehicles follow similar rules except that commercial vehicles are subject to payment of half the fee, if payment cannot be made at that moment then no release and continuation to the specified impound facility. Vehicle owners or reclaimer’s that attempt to hinder or remove the vehicle from the towing vehicle are subject to arrest. (This rule only pertains to areas governed by the Illinois Commerce Commission.)

The relocation company certainly can require the owner of the card must be present and be able to provide a state issued identification that matches the Credit or Debit card and the person using the card.
